  Biodiversity Information System
An effort to characterise vegetation cover, fragmentation, disturbance and biological richness across the landscape is organised in the form of Biodiversity Information System (BIS).BIS allows identification of gap areas, species / habitat relationship and helps in biodiversity conservation planning by setting priority areas.

Species Information System
Development of species Information system (SIS) is based on an extensive field work carried out by scientists and researchers in the first phase of the DOS-DBT project entitled Biodiversity Characterization at Landscape Level using Satellite Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System. In the development of this, oracle 9i is used as back end and active server pages (ASP) is used as front end.

Bioprospecting and Molecular Taxonomy Programme

Under the Bioprospecting and Molecular Taxonomy Program of the Department of Biotechnology, some environmentally / medicinally / economically important plant species are being studied and a good amount of data has been generated. In order to collate this information, a database documenting the species being studied under the bioprospecting / molecular taxonomy programme has been evolved.
