CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niroula has stated that three staff members from the air traffic controller department have been suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) for their “carelessness”.

A potential collision was averted on Friday morning when an Airbus A-320 operated by Nepal Airlines en route from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Kathmandu, and an Air India aircraft en route to Kathmandu from New Delhi came dangerously close to each other.

Niroula explained that the Air India plane was in the process of descending from 19,000 ft, whereas the Nepal Airlines aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 15,000 ft in the same area.
