The arrival of Cam Newton to the NFL in 2022-23 has attracted a lot of attention. After leaving the Carolina Panthers last year, the quarterback was the subject of interest from a variety of teams. The current state of affairs, however, indicates that Newton will remain a free agent.
Since playing for the Panthers in January, Newton hasn’t appeared in the league. Even though there is still talk about him returning to action in the near future, he has indicated that he wants to make a fully informed decision about his future and football career before doing so
What will the 2023 home stadium be for Cam Newton?
The team for which Cam Newton will play in 2023 has not yet been decided. A few offers were made to Newton in the offseason, he told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It was important to him, however, to sign with a team that aligned with his interests. It was said by him:
Carolina Panthers have been Newton’s home for most of his NFL career. Despite Geno Smith’s impressive season, the Seattle Seahawks may also pursue Newton. Russell Wilson’s long-term successor may or may not be viewed as Smith.
With Tom Brady, 45, also becoming a free agent next summer, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may also be a possibility for Newton. Houston Texans quarterback Davis Mills is also struggling to get things right.
A team is unlikely to commit to the former MVP long-term due to his age. While he may be old, he offers valuable experience that can be used to transition a younger quarterback into the league.
In the coming season, Newton will be a top free-agent quarterback. After reaching the Super Bowl with the Panthers in 2015, the 33-year-old knows what it takes to reach it again. For next season, he would love to be on a number of teams’ rosters since he played in the NFL for 11 years.
“He stated during 2021 exit interviews that he still believed he could play at a high level. “However, if an opportunity arises where I don’t have to play and it’s about winning, I’m willing to do that too. As of now, I will not return for no 5-12. Everything is better when you win. Therefore, to what extent am I willing to do-whether I am starting or not-if it is about winning, then I will do it.”
