The Government of India has enforced the RTE act in all states to ensure free and compulsory education for all. As per the Right to Education Act, children aged between 6 to 14 years are entitled to receive free education. Tamil Nadu RTE Admission Begins For The Session 2022-23
The Tamil Nadu School Education Department has published a timetable for RTE admissions in 2022. According to the schedule, parents can submit their applications between 20th April 2022 to 18th May 2022. Students residing within a 1 km radius of a private school are eligible to apply for admission under this scheme. This year, approximately 1 lakh seats are available in around 9000 schools. Parents with an annual income of less than 2 lakhs can apply under the economically weaker sections, while for socially disadvantaged sections, all communities except OCs can apply for this scheme.
In addition, priority is given to disabled children, children of sanitary workers, and those who are HIV-infected. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available seats, schools are required to select students through a random selection process.
For parents who lack internet access, a designated staff member at the education department office will assist them with the application process.
